Summary:

Trey’s waited long enough to take what he needs.

Trey Jamison leads an elite mercenary team that specializes in snatch and grabs. Things have been going well – well enough that he’s letting himself notice Kai Tanaka, fellow Texan and team long-range sniper.

Kai hasn’t made any secret of his attraction to Trey. But the boss is the boss, and it isn’t until the team gets compromised and Kai is captured during a job that Trey lets himself admit the feelings he has for his captured teammate.

This is a previously published title. The publisher has changed.

Excerpt:

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Trey Jamison couldn’t believe how this whole situation had gone down the proverbial shit hole. A quick in and out, that was the plan, grab the hostage and move out too fast for anyone to notice until it was too late.

Somehow, the girl in question had gone all Stockholm syndrome and was fighting Jagger tooth and nail while he tried to drag her out of the big beach house in Mexico. That meant he and Cyrus were sitting ducks since they were flanking, making sure the retrieval went smoothly.

“Fuckers! Leave me alone. Let me go!” That shrill, teenaged voice and the sound of the girl’s foot connecting with a vase and sending it to the floor to shatter might as well have been a klaxon alarm.

So much for all their careful planning. Siesta time meant only two guards had been active in the wing where the hostage was being kept, with one more patrolling outside. Everyone else had been asleep or in the very back of the house at the cocina, noshing on sponge cake.

Not anymore.

“Need cover at the front door, Kai,” Trey snapped into his headset. “We’re fixin’ to get hit with every guard in the house and I’m not feeling real fucking social.” He heard booted footsteps pounding on the Saltillo tile floors. “We’re fucked two ways from Sunday.”

“Roger, boss.” Kai would spread careful cover fire with his long-range weapon, and Danny would swoop in to retrieve them in the helo.

That was the new plan, damn it.

“Nine o’clock, boss!” Cyrus shouted, and he whirled, firing off a shot before ducking hard and swerving toward Jagger and the hostage.

“Pull in. They won’t chance shooting her.” Trey had to bank on that. This chick had been kept in high style, in a cushy room with satin fucking pajamas. She was important to someone.

Cyrus slammed in on the other side of Jagger, and they made a break out the front door and across the compound. Bullets kicked up puffs of sand around them, but the base crack of Kai’s rifle kept all but the bravest guards inside, where they could find cover. They just needed to make it around the bend in the road, where the trees took over from the cleared land. Then they could really move to their rendezvous with Danny.

“No! No, no, no.” The girl was still screaming, and Trey snarled at Jagger. “Can’t you tranq her?”

“Busy,” Jagger barked, clearly out of breath. The guy was an ex-Marine machine, so she had to be fighting him hard.

They gained the cover of the trees, and they paused so Cyrus could help Jagger, retrieving a syringe from the big guy’s backpack and plunging it into the hostage’s neck.

It took maybe five seconds for her to pass out.

“We’re Oscar Mike, Kai. Give us a two-minute window.” Trey took point, plunging into the dense vegetation that surrounded the villa. They’d go up the coast about a mile and push back out to open land for their pickup.

“You got it.” He heard the shots, deliberately spaced. Kai was solid, a good man to have in a fight.

Damned pretty, too.

Trey grinned and gave the boys a thumbs up. He thought they might just make it without taking on injuries.

That would probably be some sort of miracle, but Trey was a believer, so that worked for him.
